Peng Yun is one of the most emblematic female artists in Macau today. From her previous works one can always find a kind of “pure paranoia”, whether it be her photography, video, performance art or installation work. She sets off from the female point of view, taking a delicate blend of emotional experiences and externalizing them into objectively elegant demonstrations and struggles. In the midst of her sometimes sexy and sometimes violent expression, she takes the spiritual plight that women live through and transforms it into something beautiful that flourishes and poses questions. In P’s Mirror, Peng Yun collaborates with local musician Chen Yufeng, using sound and environment as an important medium. In a free but intimate setting the audience must use P’s guidance to find those abnormal behaviors that happen when our senses are absent. Peng Yun has engaged in artistic creation since 2002. With a master’s degree in New Media from China Academy of Art and a bachelor’s degree in in oil painting from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, she has taught Digital Media at the Fudan University Shanghai Institute of Visual Art and currently resides in Macau. Her recent solo works include: My View – Peng Yun’s video, photography and installation exhibition and She Says.
